Movie Magazine

This is the first draft of our magazine, I used the same image as the poster, but we decided that, that image didn't suit being on the cover of a magazine.
Also feedback from people, suggested that some of the stuff that was on the cover didn't fit in with the genre of our film. For example the link to Spiderman and interview, and also the colours used looked too childish.
Also there was too much focus on Twilight, as I changed it so the main focus was on our film.
I also made the logo for the magazine using a few images from Google and editing them on Photoshop to make them in to the image we needed for our magazine title.
We decided to cal our magazine Movie Reel because it was quite simple and sounded movie magaziney.


Here's the final draft for our magazine, we used a still from one of the shots where Tom was walking towards the camera.

Here is the final draft for our film poster, there were  few changes made to it since the first draft, for example I had to change the names of the main actors in the movie as we slightly changed what was going to happen in our trailer. 

We also didn't agree on what the name of our group was, which meant we didn't have a production logo made to go on the poster, which I had to make and add on to the poster later on.

As a group we also hadn't decided on wen we were to release our movie in cinemas, but later decided that seeing as it is a Christmas horror, the best time to have it released is before Christmas so people have time to watch the movie, as it wouldn't really be affective after Christmas.

Weekly Update!

So far we have filmed most of the clips that we need for our trailer, but there are just a few more shots that are needed to complete the filming. We have also started on some of the editing and have tried putting effects that will make our production look more real. We also looked at music, and are deciding what we want int the music, for example because our trailer is based around Christmas, we are thinking about having 'Santa Claus is Coming to Town' but a slowed down version so it sounds quite scary.

Me and Levinia have also made the film poster for our movie, using a still that we thought represents the movie really well. 

At the moment we are deciding on what we want to do with our movie magazine, we have come up with a name, 'Film Fanaticz' and the next thing do do is start working on that, finish filming and get on with editing and making the music.

Here is the first draft of our movie poster, which me and Levinia worked on. To make the poster we used Photoshop, because we found it was the easiest and most efficient one to use. The image we used was a still from when we filmed the killer standing outside the boys bedroom window.

Final Decisions - Setting & Lighting

The main setting for our production will be Tom's house, as the majority of the trailer is set in 'Ethan's' bedroom. We decided to use Tom's for the setting as he had enough room film in different angles without hassle. There will be a range of different shots that are going to be used and we will be using natural lighting for the scenes needed outside and interior lighting for the scenes in Tom's room. Also on Tom's street there a street lamps which will be good to use if we were to film at night, which is very likely.

We are also going to film in Sheldon Country Park as we need to film scenes where the killer is chasing victims and killing them. The scenes that are going to be shot there are going to be using natural lighting, but seeing at its a horror trailer we might need to film it in the dark because horror films are generally set in the dark, due to the fact that a lot of people are scared of the dark.

Final Decisions - Sound

When the animatic for our production was being made, Tom decided on using a keyboard version of 'Santa Claus is Coming to Town...' which is played slowly and was taken from a Youtube tutorial. Although we used this music for the animatic, if we were to use the same piece of music for our trailer we would have to think about copyright issues. It is a very good piece of music and would fit in very well with our trailer, but we feel that we could make an even better version of the original it, which will fit in even better with our final production, using GarageBand. If we were to use the same music as our animatic, we would have to think about contacting the person that made it, to see if we would be able to use their music.  
The music that we will use for our traile will have to be christmassy and be quite slow tempo, as we want the music to create suspense and mystery.

In terms of the music, it has to have a Christmas feel to it as well as being able to create suspense, tension and mystery.

UPDATE - We have decided to use copyright free music, from sites like Jamendo. We've also decided to use two different pieces of music because we couldn't find the right music that would have the soft feel to it as well as the fast tense edge to it.Below is a link to the Youtube tutorial of the original music we used in our animatic:
